FAQs

Pricing & Costs

The cost of hiring portable air conditioning depends on the type and number of units you need, the length of the hire, and the delivery location. But, as a rough guide, our prices start from £8.40 per week. We’ll also beat any like-for-like quote.

See our pricing page for a more detailed guide to air con hire costs. We are the only hire company in the UK that publishes all our pricing online. We guarantee there are no other fees or hidden charges when you hire from us.

Usage depends on the size and model, but our portable AC units are energy-efficient and designed for commercial and event use. On average, a standard unit uses around 1-2.5 kWh per hour. We’ll guide you on what to expect based on the equipment you hire.

Cooling & Performance

Yes, our portable air conditioning units help reduce humidity while cooling the air. Lower humidity can make a space feel more comfortable and is especially helpful in offices, retail spaces, server rooms, or event venues.

Most units begin cooling straight away. The time it takes to reach your desired temperature depends on room size, insulation, and the weather, but we’ll match you with the right unit to get fast, effective results.

Not usually. Most units cycle on and off automatically to maintain the desired temperature. Some models also have energy-saving modes or thermostats to reduce unnecessary running time.

Units should be placed near a power supply and in an open space with good airflow. For units with exhaust hoses or condensate drainage, proximity to windows or drains is helpful. We can give guidance on placement if you are unsure.

Absolutely. We regularly supply cooling equipment for marquees, tents, and pop-up structures. For well-ventilated or semi-enclosed spaces, evaporative coolers can be ideal, they’re energy-efficient and don’t require a sealed space to work.

Power & Technical Setup

Most of our units run on a standard 13-amp plug socket (the same as everyday appliances).

We don’t supply extension leads, but we can recommend the correct type to run your unit safely. Just get in touch to check the specs of your hire model.

Yes, portable AC units require venting hot air through an exhaust hose. If your space has no windows or sealed windows, let us know. We’ve helped customers in similar situations using creative solutions.

We provide full support from the moment you enquire. Our team will advise you on the best units for your space, handle delivery, and walk you through how everything works. Ongoing support is also available throughout your hire, if you have any issues.

For most of our portable air conditioning hire units, professional installation isn’t necessary, making the whole process fast and stress-free. The units are designed to be easy to move and simple to set up.

When we deliver your equipment, we can usually carry out a free standard site audit to make sure you’ve got the right unit and that it’s placed for maximum cooling efficiency. In many cases, our delivery team will position the units exactly where you need them and help with basic setup, such as properly venting the exhaust hose through a window, door, or ceiling.

Please note: we can only deliver to ground-floor locations unless alternative arrangements have been made in advance.

We aim to be punctual and efficient, traffic permitting, and can even offer same-day delivery, ensuring your hired AC units arrive and are collected at a time that works best for you.

Usually within 24 hours on weekdays. Morning orders are typically delivered the same afternoon; afternoon orders are delivered the next morning. Contact us to confirm availability.

Our standard service is ground floor only. If you need delivery to a higher level, please arrange this with us in advance.

Noise & Operation

Our units are designed to be as quiet as possible, but as with any machinery, some sound is expected. Noise levels range from around 48-60 decibels, similar to an office fan or background conversation. We can recommend the quietest models if noise is a concern.

Very little. Just make sure air vents aren’t blocked and that filters remain clean, especially for longer hires. For longer-term use, we may arrange a scheduled check. If you run into any issues, we’re on hand to help.

Maintenance & Support

Very little. Just ensure air vents aren’t blocked and that filters stay clean, especially during longer hires. For long-term use, we may schedule a maintenance check.

No servicing is needed. For long hires, just check and clean the dust filters occasionally, similar to a tumble dryer.

If anything goes wrong, call us. Most issues can be resolved over the phone. If not, we’ll attend your premises and replace the unit, free of charge, usually within 24 hours during the working week.

Yes, and we’re flexible. You don’t even need to contact us; your hire automatically rolls on unless you arrange a collection. However, it’s worth calling us, as a longer hire may qualify for a lower weekly rate (which we’ll apply retroactively).
